I just inferred the meaning of the whole thing from "onna" and "sei" because "sei" was used in "gakusei", I didn't really know what it means exactly.
i think if you actually just said "josei" people would think you're saying 女性 which just means women. and anyone into anime knows josei is the genre with that one artstyle that women like for some reason.

生 has other uses other than student-related things like 人生 (life) so u kind of got lucky associating it with gakusei specifically. whereas 生徒 = just student.

the part that makes gakusei mean student is rlly more the other kanji.

literally beginners luck because the only contexts I remember "sei" in are "gakusei" and "sensei"...

..and ju sei :flower:
