Before anime I loved cartoons. I just prefer animation to live-action because it makes it easier for me to keep the suspension of disbelief.

Adventure Time (it got way worse in later seasons), Over The Garden Wall, Gravity Falls, and Regular Show, but I loved the old Disney cartoons like Lion King and Alladin too.

idek how adventure time ended becuz the quality dropped off pretty hard around the fiona and cake episode and i stopped watching. regular show and gravity falls r still kino. i never got into over the garden wall but herd it werz gud. disney cartoons r gr8 ofc

visual novels give me a wistful and painful bittersweet feeling like nothing else
there's something different about that medium
it's probably the most potent form of escapism out there, immersing urself into a 20+ hour VN

by the end of a shitty VN like kazoku keikaku i was completely emotionally drain'd and lost to this world

ur also a normie if you just watch anime and/or read mango and aren't into VNs and don't buy figurines of half naked anime girls
(you also need to have beaten a touhou game)

I played quite a few but that was pre-conversion. Katawa Shoujo is a classic for a reason idk if there's a non-adult version.

It's spiritually Japanese. Yume Miru Kusuri is my favorite Japanese one it has such a weird vibe, but obv I can't recommend it to anyone. Also I know it's very normie but Doki Doki is pretty good despite not being Japanese too.
