imagine yume nikki but you could talk to and befriend NPCs and access new locations by picking the right dialogue options and using items in different ways, and there is a branching plot with multiple endings. and also you can customize your character and organize/furnish ur house. and there is no gay tedious farming mechanic or any sort of grinding

maybe i'll just make my own game in rpgmaker

i have not played fallout 1-2 so maybe im just being grumpy and the combat is actually highly tied to item collection and basically is just making use of things you've found and doesnt feel tedious/repetitive/chorelike

idk if western turn-based RPGs are as AIDS as JRPGs (select attack a bunch of times while wishing the enemies would hurry up so you can keep selecting your best attack over and over again and maybe healing a couple times)

Rimworld. i built my pc and put every hour into that game for a bit. one of the only games that i have over 1200 hours in. I haven't even successfully completed the game, doing different colony runs and playthroughs with mods is crazy. very cozy and i would often imagine myself as one of the 2d figures completing tasks to get through sucky days.

payne a bit closer to heaven.jpg

For me it's Max Payne. Played it when I was a kid and I really liked the style. The game has a lot of Norse symbolism too, if you're into that kind of stuff.

Oooooo I luv max payne! I played the first on iOS when I was a kid, the 3rd I think in 2018 and the 2nd last year. The third one is my favorite, it had such a cool vibe. Wish they made another one.

Dragon Age Origins for me. Pretty much everything about it was very well done so I don't want to glaze every single aspect. The one thing I will touch on was the lore and world building. Every race, god, demon, nation, how they all related to each other, and their history was very interesting. And I always like stories where there is so much going on and they don't just blow their load and reveal everything, telling the whole story in one game. Leaving things unsaid and keeping them a mystery is always good story telling imo.

I've played 1 and 2 but not 3. I never got around to playing 3 but I should.
2 isn't as nostalgic for me but it's great, the gameplay is so slick.
