this would be one of the best shoegaze songs evar made or maybe even just one of the best indie songs evar made in general..... BUT....
i hate when songs just have a shaker thrown in for no reason that adds nothing to the song and just makes it sound cornier. the shaker comes in at 0:25 on this, but WHY? it was clearly never intended to be in the song because it doesn't fit in with the feel the band were going for at all
You, the Reader of this Post, may have noticed before in many songs how there is a shaker that plays a really basic 1-2-3-4-1-2-3-4-1-2-3-4 beat in loads of songs and thought nothing of it other than maybe it's some kind of standard basic instrument to try to beef up the song and add more to it or something along those lines
HOWEVER.
the reason this song and trillions of others have a shaker is that the producer said to the band in the studio "hmmm.... this song is missing a little something but we can add this to it to help" and then they'll play the shaker themselves. the actual reason for this is that by playing an instrument on the recording, they get performance royalties
they are RAPING your MUSIC for CASH and your favorite musicians are all RETARDS who DON'T GET IT!
