Ultraviolence

Ultraviolence

Will Reading Deleuze Get Me 2 Heaven?

Call me alt-left and cool. I listen to Chapo Trap House and say edgy things. I smoke cigarettes and read books you’ve never heard of. I bring up how much money I wasted on college as an ironic post-modern statement of late capitalism. All my girlfriends are more domineering than I am. I love the city. I love to hate the city. I listen to Brockhampton, Tyler the creator and Kendrick Lamar just to name a few. Would you like to know the rest of my music taste? You would never guess. Tame Impala is another band I like. Some obscure local bands that reference Chomsky and the sorrows of dating an art hoe or having white guilt. Slavoj Zizek really changed my perspective on things. Voted most likely to be a Bernie bro. I do not have a good relationship with most of my family. I am proud of my tweets. I will never have children. Research chemicals have made me a more interesting person. I will never grow up.

Let Go

My world
Is a sad world
Often wonder if there’s blame
Such a fool in a mad, mad world
With no picture in my frame

-My World, Charles Manson

The night sky looks a pure dark blue. Interrupted by small specks of white. The air is cool on this summer night. It’s getting harder and harder to escape light pollution now. That thought doesn’t matter as much now. Here you are. Your ears aren’t filled with electronic noise, but with the hum of God’s creatures. You’re feel a lot more refreshed. Your mind isn’t choked with images. You can think, whether you want to or not.

You have to give up. You need to let go.

Settle Down, Shooter

NBC news

Houston’s Galleria was the site of a Friday night attack that injured a man who was struck in a leg, authorities said. The suspected shooter fled to a parking garage, where an off-duty officer engaged in a shootout with the man, according to Houston Police Chief Troy Finner.

The officer, a 5-year department employee, was not injured, the chief said. It wasn’t clear if the suspected shooter, who fled, was struck. He was still at-large, Finner said.

“It’s a sign of the time,” the chief said. “We just have to, as a city, focus in on these violence criminals—knuckleheads. We have families in the mall. it makes no sense.”

Haven’t you heard all of that before? Less than twenty four hours after this event another shooting took place.

NBC News

Fans at a baseball game at National Park in Washington scrambled for safety Saturday night after gunfire erupted outside the venue.

The Metro Police Department Police said three people, including a bystander who was attending the game, were shot outside the park. The department initially said there were four victims.

The game was suspended and rescheduled for Sunday.

Executive Assistant Chief Ashan M. Benedict described the violence as a shootout between people in two vehicles just outside the ball park.

The violence came amid a rise in gun violence across the U.S. this year. Shootings with multiple victims took place over the weekend, in Portland, Oregon; Sacramento, California; and Washington, D.C.

In the Washington attack, a 6-year-old girl was killed late Friday in a shooting that also injured three men and two women, police said.

“There’s too much gun violence still perpetuated in this city, and too many children are being harmed,” Ashan Benedict, the Metropolitan Police Department’s executive assistant chief, said from the crime scene overnight.

The nation’s violence prompted President Joe Biden on Monday to urge communities to use $350 billion in state funding included in the Covid-19 relief plan to hire officers and pay for crime prevention.

“We recognize that we have to come together to fulfill the first responsibility of a democracy and to keep each other safe,” he said.

Looks like there’s a bit of the ole ultraviolence on the uptick, aye? Weird, strange, I have no idea why so many people are on edge and angry. I agree with the chief, it makes no sense.

Remember: Hollywood considers the modern day Taxi Driver to be a preacher angry about climate change.

Maybe they’re a little disconnected.
